FUNERAL LUNCHEON MINISTRY
St. Anthony's Parish wants to respond to the needs of bereaved
families by providing for those who have lost a loved one.
As a result, we have created our Funeral Luncheon Ministry.
Our program is coordinated by three separate luncheon teams
who will go above and beyond to provide food and comfort for
the gathering. The family requesting a luncheon should contact
the parish office at 857-0490, Monday-Friday and speak to a secretary. The
secretary will explain the procedure. The secretary will then contact a Team
Co-Leader of the luncheon. In the event that the Parish Office is closed,
the Funeral Director is asked to call Fr. Reggie directly, who will, in
turn, get in touch with the family to explain the procedure.
The specifics of Funeral Luncheon are: $3.50 per person (includes the use of the hall, paper products and food) Payment is due the day of the funeral so we, in turn, may reimburse the parishioners who have cooked, baked, and bought food items. A two-day notice is required so that phone calls can be made to the volunteers for their help in cooking and serving the luncheon. A minimum of 50 people is required.
Funeral luncheons are all held at St. Hyacinth's parish hall even when funerals are held elsewhere. All equipment and supplies are stored at St. Hyacinth's. The Funeral Luncheon is a ministry for the sole purpose of giving support to families who have lost a loved one. This is not a money-making effort. With payment received for the luncheon, we simply want to be able to meet our expenses. (To show their appreciation some families give more than expected. This extra money is used for those families who cannot afford a luncheon) I am most grateful to all who are helping to make this special parish ministry one of comfort and love for families who have lost a loved one.
Sincerely Yours,
Fr. Reggie Brissette
